    Illegal Dumping

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry are investigating illegal garbage dumping taking place at the Brighton Provincial Wildlife Area north of the 401, east of highway 30, west of Trenton, Northumberland County. This dumping has included items such as construction materials, shingles, drums of used oil, stolen property, household garbage and furniture.

The area where the garbage is being dumped is frequented by outdoor enthusiasts. The ministry is looking for information from anyone who may regularly visit this area and witnessed this kind of activity, or who has information regarding the individual or individuals who are committing these violations.

This issue is beyond aesthetics, it affects wildlife and their habitat and human health and safety. Garbage dumped on public lands costs public dollars to clean up where the responsible individual(s) cannot be identified.

If you have any information about these incidents, please contact the MNRF TIPS line at 1-877-847-7667 toll-free any time, or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
