Crime of the Week

            Date  11Jan2012

Peterborough Northumberland Crime Stoppers would like your assistance in solving the following

 Arson

On the 1st of January 2012 at approximately 7:20 pm fire and police officials attended 198 Edinburgh St, Peterborough, a rooming house, in response to a fire.  On arrival the upper level of the residence was engulfed in flames.  Fire officials alerted a resident in the lower level who escaped unharmed and the fire was subsequently extinguished causing in excess of $100,000.00 damage.  There was no one living in the upper level at the time of the fire.  This fire has now been determined to have been deliberately set.

At the time the fire, and prior to fire and police officials attending the scene, a male was observed on a near by foot path who appeared to be hiding while observing the fire.  This male then disappeared.  The male is described as approximately 6 feet tall, thin build, in his 20's, wearing a baseball hat.

Also located in the fire scene were remnants of a rifle and shotgun.
